Shelby Materials was awarded the ready mix concrete contract for the 75th Street Bridge with Milestone Contractors. The project owner was INDOT.
The entire project consisted of over 3700 yards of INDOT concrete. The feature pour was the 700 yard bridge deck. Milestone wanted to do the entire deck in one continuous pour.
In order to accomplish this task Shelby Materials was asked to provide a mix that stayed in its plastic state for well over 6 hours until both bridge diaphragms were completed. The mix then had to harden and cure to meet typical 7 day strength requirements. Shelby Materials executed this to perfection. Milestone was able to complete the pour in one night instead of two and saved an entire day of operating expenses in the process.
