Project Description
The 3700 square foot residence was first conceived by the owners who wanted a home that followed the architectural tenant of “truth to materials,” an idea that any material should be used where it is most appropriate and it should not be hidden.
In this application that meant the extensive use of concrete, wood, and metal in a near natural state; structural concrete was left exposed and is showcased in the walls reaching up to 35 feet high, large natural lumber support beams cross the ceilings for support, and steel siding coated in an aluminum-zinc compound is used to weatherproof the exterior. Shelby Materials provided Greystone Concrete with the materials for all of the structural cast in place concrete and floor slabs. The builder wasBuilder: Redevelopment Group.
The home also featured extensive use of concrete for a built in fixtures, countertops and bathrooms.
